I'm ready to go. The bike is fueled, the gear is loaded, tires and oil are good. Tomorrow the journey begins. I recall my first road trip that I took in 1974 from Toronto to Vancouver with my best friend Mike driving my 67 Chev Bel Aire. Our check list back then was somewhat different. Car - check. Tires - bald. Gas - number 2 bunker oil. Tent - yes, canvas, heavy, some holes. Sleeping bag - good to plus 65 F. Cell phone - Whats that? Is this the same as phone booths? We don't need to bring one as it won't fit in the trunk. There is one on almost every corner. Blackberry - no, attracks to many bears. Garmin GPS - that's no way to swear at me. Portable air compressor - whats wrong with the bicycle pump? Portable hard drive - Its not portable silly its a permenant appendage. Computer - why do we need a slide rule? i phone - i phone, you phone, lets just bring a few dimes and call collect. Digital camera - is this the same as a kodak brownie? Cables for above -I always carry booster cables. I'm not an idiot. I miss the good old days when things were much simpler. Game on. Stay tuned.
I have just gotten your blog on by portable computer. So after I throw a few dirty clothes in the saddle bags I will be ready to join you in Albuquerque NM. I will be departing here sometime on Tuesday, I hope it will be early. The only reason I ever traveled with a slip stick to see how often I need to find cheap gas.
Yep, I remember when you and Mike took that road trip way back in '67. You had your CB radio, your 8 track cassettes, your Polaroid camera, one pack of Export Plain to share between you and your Teddy Bear! 10-4 Good Buddy, Over and Out!
